Most needed Bash Commands

This post serves as a reminder for myself. Pardon for the crudeness or lack of information. For more information type ‘man’ and then the command on the terminal.

df = disk filesize

du = disk usage

scp [where file is] hostname@[ip]:[destination] = like ftp on lcommand line

sftp = like scp on konqueror

ls -ld [folder/file] = to know the folder’s access type

ssh hostname@[ip]:[destination] = to gain remote access

mount -t -o [uid=’user’] [vfat/ntfs] /dev/[hda/1/c/2] /mnt/windows = gain access on windowsdirectory
